MILWAUKEE – May 24, 2010 – It’s not every day you come across a friendship as special as Pete and Corey’s. The two Homestead high schoolers met in first grade, but were paired up four years ago as “Best Buddies” for the non-profit organization of the same name. They’ve been inseparable ever since. Next week their friendship will be a highlight at the 4th Annual Best Buddies Leadership Breakfast on Wednesday, June 2, at the Pfister Hotel.
In addition to hearing Pete and Corey’s story, breakfast attendees will hear from guest speaker Anne Ballentine, former Milwaukee news anchor. Anne will share her story about growing up without an arm, in a family where her physical ailment wasn’t seen as a weakness. Anne will talk about her life and her sister Lynne, who had cerebral palsy and an amazing spirit. Anne’s outlook on physical and developmental disabilities will illustrate how our lives can be enriched when we see others for who they are and what they have to offer.!
“This annual breakfast brings to light those people with special needs and the accomplishments of Best Buddies Wisconsin,” said Linda Price Topp, advisory board member and co-chair of the Leadership Breakfast. “We are so excited to share our mission with event attendees!it’s an organization that so many people can benefit from. We just want to spread the word and grow the organization into local colleges, high schools and middle schools in Milwaukee.”
The Best Buddies Wisconsin 4th Annual Leadership Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at The Pfister Hotel, Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 7-9am.
